Lakeside Construction LLC is a family-owned, Georgia Licensed General Contractor serving homeowners throughout Augusta, Evans, Columbia County, and the surrounding CSRA.
But our story started long before the Lakeside name was established.
It began with a high school kid spending his summers framing houses.
Where It All Started
While attending Evans High School, Larry Gilpin got his start in the construction industry working on framing crews during summer breaks. It was his first introduction to residential construction and the beginning of a career that would eventually span decades.
After graduating from Evans High School, Larry joined the repair crew at Southern Roofing. He quickly advanced to Lead Foreman, where he gained extensive hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing roofing and exterior problems.
That repair background became an important part of the way Larry approached construction. Building something new is one skill. Figuring out why something failed, tracing the problem to its source, and knowing how to repair it correctly is another.
Eventually, Larry started his own construction business while continuing to subcontract for Southern Roofing. At the same time, he began building his own customer base and taking on residential repair, remodeling, and construction projects throughout the Augusta area.
And through much of it, Camden was growing up right alongside him.
Growing Up on the Jobsite
For Camden Gilpin, construction was part of life long before it became his career.
As a kid, he went with his dad to jobsites. As he got older, watching turned into helping, and helping turned into learning the trade firsthand. By the time Camden graduated from Lincoln County High School, he had already spent years around residential construction.
Camden went on to attend Augusta Technical College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology. But college did not mean leaving construction behind. Throughout school, he continued working alongside Larry and gaining hands-on experience in the field.
After graduation, Camden chose to continue building his career in the industry he had grown up in.
He went on to become a Georgia Licensed General Contractor and later earned his Georgia Master Plumber license, adding professional licensing to a construction education that had started years earlier on jobsites with his dad.
Lakeside Construction Is Established
In 2015, Lakeside Construction LLC was established.
What began with Larry framing houses during high school had grown into a second-generation family construction company combining decades of hands-on field experience with the education, licensing, and experience of the next generation.
Today, Lakeside Construction provides residential remodeling, home repairs, renovations, and exterior construction for homeowners throughout Augusta, Evans, Martinez, Grovetown, Appling, Harlem, and surrounding communities in the CSRA.
Our work includes bathroom remodeling, Hardie siding repair and replacement, roof repairs, deck construction and repair, exterior wood rot repair, chimney and flashing repairs, doors and windows, and other residential renovation and repair projects.
Two Generations. One Standard.
Larry brings decades of field experience and the kind of problem-solving knowledge that only comes from years spent building homes, repairing them, remodeling them, and figuring out why something failed in the first place.
Camden brings a lifetime around the construction industry, years of hands-on experience of his own, an Associate Degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology, and professional credentials as both a Georgia Licensed General Contractor and Georgia Licensed Master Plumber.
But licenses and years of experience only tell part of the story.
What matters to us is what we do with them.
We believe homeowners deserve straightforward answers. If something can be repaired, we'll tell you. If replacement makes more sense, we'll explain why. And when we take on a project, our goal isn't simply to make the problem disappear on the surface. We want to understand what caused it and fix it correctly.
That's a philosophy built from decades of repair work, and it's still how we approach projects today.
Small by Design
Lakeside Construction is intentionally a small, family-owned construction company.
We aren't a franchise, and we aren't a high-volume remodeling operation where one person sells the job and a completely different group of people shows up to build it.
When you hire Lakeside, you're hiring our family and the small team we've built around us.
Staying small allows us to remain personally involved in our projects, pay attention to the details, and maintain the standards our family name and reputation depend on.
We may not be the right contractor for every project or every homeowner, and we're okay with that.
We'd rather do the right projects well than try to do every project that comes our way.
Local Roots That Run Deep
Lakeside Construction was established in 2015, but our family's connection to the Augusta area goes back much further.
Evans. Columbia County. Lincoln County. Augusta. The CSRA.
These aren't simply locations on a service-area map. They're the communities where our family has lived, gone to school, worked, raised families, and built a business.
More than a decade after Lakeside Construction was established, we're still doing what started all those years ago: showing up, solving problems, building things correctly, and earning the trust of homeowners one project at a time.
